Lake House Retreat
Bethel, New York

This multi-story lakefront residence is sited in densely wooded forest with rock outcroppings and old stone wall features. The local design covenants promoted forms reminiscent of the historic Adirondack Camps as well as the use of natural colors and materials. The design incorporates a glass living room with a twenty-five foot high vaulted ceiling with large timber beams and stripped tree trunk structural supports. A central fireplace is the pivotal design element throughout the house separating the entry hall, living and dining/kitchen on the main level and the master suite and guest rooms on the upper and lower levels. A covered outdoor living/dining area with outdoor fireplace overlooks the rocky site and the lake beyond.
