When designing this apartment for a book and media collector, Studio BLS collaborated with the client to make the collections the heart of this two bedroom two bath combination. Starting with two age-worn and stripped down top floor apartments, the chopped-up plan was developed into a spacious open floor plan built around the client’s desire for a relaxing environment with warm materials. To accommodate the new floor plan, structural changes were made, a new window was added and walls were removed. Translucent glass sliding doors and custom lighting transform this once dark apartment into a light-filled environment with mood and atmosphere. The new entry foyer with built-in storage, open kitchen with breakfast bar, living room, media room and spacious master suite make grand living cozy and comfortable.
