67-69 EIGHTH AVENUE

Facade & Storefront Renovation

Greenwich Village, NYC

Over time, this historic 1898 Greenwich Village apartment building fell into disrepair, was stripped of its original detail and storefronts and painted over. Studio BLS crafted the project as a restoration to return the upper façade to its original beauty while coordinating a new design for the street level storefronts and apartment entrances. Interior hallway renovations were also part of the rehabilitation scope.

Studio BLS researched the building’s architectural history and original brownstone detailing using archived photos and drawings. The retail storefronts and entrances were designed to reflect the buildings past and incorporated traditional details found in the Greenwich Village Historic District.  Studio BLS coordinated the project with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission and obtained approvals.
